My Holy Grail Liquid Eyeliner: Merle Norman Pro Pen Eyeliner

Pic 1

Ta-da…my holy grail eyeliner pen! Isn’t she pretty?

Whether you’re a liquid liner junkie who can apply a winged liner look in your sleep or someone who likes liquid liner but has a panic attack at the thought of applying it- you need to give the Merle Norman Pro Pen Eyeliner in Sharp Black a try. This eyeliner pen will change your life, no joke.

Slim felt-tipped applicator

You can create thin lines by pressing lightly on your eyelid or thicker lines by adding more pressure.

The Pro Pen is similar to a fine-point marker and has a slim, felt-tipped applicator making it very easy to maneuver along your lash line. I used to stray away from liquid liners because no matter how hard I tried, I could never get my eyeliner straight or even. After each use my eyelids would be peaking through an uneven, jagged line- not a cute look for anyone. This eyeliner pen makes application a breeze. I recently held a Ladies Night Out Smoky Eye Bootcamp at the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio for all makeup skill levels and introduced this product to the class. The feedback was consistent regarding the ease of application. Most commented on how easy it was for them to line their inner corner without leaving a heavy line like most pencil liners would leave. I would agree. The fine-point felt-tip applicator is so precise that creating any liner look with this product is very simple and easy, even for someone who doesn’t normally use a liquid eyeliner.

Merle Norman Pro Pen Eyeliner in Sharp Black, $17.50 plus tax

The Pro Pen Eyeliner comes in one shade, Sharp Black. The shade is very black and has a semi matte finish. The formula is fragrance free, smudge proof, water- resistant and very long-wearing. The eyeliner retails for $17.50 (+ tax) and can be purchased at the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio off Odana Road in Madison, Wisconsin. Unfortunately, since all Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios are individually owned, you cannot purchase products online. So, if you can’t stop by the studio to make your purchase, you can always call (608)833-2090 and place your order by phone. Plus, shipping is free. Who doesn’t love free shipping?

If you love liquid liner or you have always wanted to try it, you can’t go wrong with this Pro Pen. I highly recommend checking it out.

My Skincare Routine

I can FINALLY say that after months and months of searching, I have found my skincare routine- hallelujah! About six months ago I noticed a drastic change in my skin, almost overnight. I went to bed with normal, sometimes dry skin and I woke up with oily, acne prone skin- talk about doing a 180. I never struggled with pimples, blackheads or breakouts. In fact, I can count on one hand the number of times I had a pimple in high school, so you can imagine the panic I felt when those bad boys started popping up all over my face. Having a background in skincare, I knew what I needed to do to get my skin in check,  however, I wasn’t sure what line of products I wanted to use. I did some research, read A LOT of reviews and after many trials and many errors, I finally found a routine that works for me and my skin type. Everyone’s skin is different, so what works for me, may not work for you. However, if you have oily, acne prone skin, I highly recommend looking into the products I use. They have certainly changed my skin for the better.

My favorite skincare products.

Daytime Skincare Routine:

Philosophy Purity Facial Cleanser & Clarisonic Mia 2

Michael Todd True Organics Moisture Lite

I wash my face each morning with my Clarisonic Mia 2 and Philosophy’s Purity Facial Cleanser. Since this cleanser is a 3-in-1 cleanser, I don’t need to follow this step by using a toner. Once I wash my face, I moisturize with Michael Todd’s Moisture Lite. This moisturizer is a non-oily hydrating lotion that won’t clog your pores. Perfect for everyday use and wears nicely under foundation.

Nighttime Skincare Routine

My Nighttime Skincare Products

Step One

First, I remove my eye makeup with Loreal Clean Artisite Waterproof & Long Wearing Eye Makeup Remover. I have tried TONS of eye makeup removers and I keep coming back to this one. It doesn’t leave my eyelids greasy or irritate my eyes. It removes eyeliner and waterproof mascara with ease. Once I have removed my eye makeup, I take an Equate Original Clean Facial Cleansing Towelette and remove the rest of my makeup. These are my holy grail makeup remover wipes- they are affordable and they get the job done. The towelettes are very sturdy and have just the right amount of moisture to swipe away the day’s makeup with ease.

Step Two

Next I take my Clarisonic Mia 2 and about a quarter size of the Michael Todd True Organics Charcoal Detox Cleanser and wash my face. This cleanser really penetrates my pores and draws out impurities. Next I use about a nickel size of the Michael Todd True Organics Jojoba Charcoal Scrub all over my face, however, I pay extra attention to the areas on my face that are prone to breakouts. Although this scrub is a gentle exfoliator, I only use this product two to three times per week depending on how my skin is behaving.

Step Three

After I cleanse my skin, I take about two pumps of the Michael Todd True Organics Kaolin Clay Mask and apply it liberally all over my face. I tend to focus this step more in the t-zone and avoid areas that are more sensitive (eyes, under the eyes, around my nose). Since this mask is used as a detoxifying treatment, I only use it one to two times per week. After I rinse off the mask, I apply the Michael Todd True Organics Lemon Toner onto a cotton round and apply to my face. This toner is amazing- not only does it smell refreshing, it is antibacterial, so I know it’s doing my skin justice. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

Step Four

After I let the toner absorb into my skin, I apply Josie Maran Argan Oil to the area around my nose, down around my mouth and onto my chin. When the weather gets colder and their is less moisture in the air, this area of my face tends to get more sensitive and dry, so this added step at night does wonders at keeping this area hydrated and moisturized. Next I apply about a dime size of Michael Todd True Organics Antioxidant Carrot Multivitamin Serum all over my face and neck. After I apply this serum, I apply the Michael Todd True Organics Moisture Lite all over my face, eyes and neck. This is my final step in my nighttime skincare routine and helps add moisture back into my skin.

I have been using this products for almost three months now and I’ve really noticed a difference in how my skin looks and feels. This routine helps keep my breakouts minimal, helps control the oil in my skin and also helps keep my skin looking bright. I’ve also noticed a huge change in my skin’s texture- a lot less under-the-surface-bumps. I highly recommend finding a routine that works for you and sticking with it.

What are some of your holy grail skincare products?

Tutorial: Super Easy Glam Eye Look

With the holidays right around the corner, I wanted to share a super easy, glam eye look
with all of my favorite beauty lovers. This neutral eye look can be paired with almost any
lip color and will look great on any skin tone. You can ‘tone’ down the look by adding a nude
lip for a more wearable daytime look OR glam it up by adding a vibrant red lip for a sassy
nighttime look. Whatever you choose, rock it with confidence. YOU.ARE.GORGEOUS.
What You’ll Need:
– Eyeshadow Primer
– L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shadow in Bottomless Java OR a dark, shimmery brown shade
– Loreal Eye Shadow Quad in Cupa Joe OR a warm light brown matte shade AND a dark brown matte shade
– Dark Brown Eyeliner
– Black Eyeliner (optional)
– Your favorite mascara (or mascaras for those of us who use more than one)
– Flat Shader Eyeshadow Brush (2; one for the lid color and one for the brown bone color)
– Fluffy Eyeshadow Brush
– Blending Eyeshadow Brush
– Pencil Eyeshadow Brush
– Eyelash Curler
Step One
Step 1
Apply an eyeshadow primer from your upper lash line to your brow bone. The primer will make your eyeshadow more vibrant, long-wearing and will help prevent creasing.
Step Two
Step 2
With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply the light brown matte eyeshadow from the L’Oreal Eyeshadow Quad in Cupa Joe to your crease using a windshield wiper motion. Don’t worry about this step being perfect or too precise as this is your transition shade.
Step Three
Step 3
Using a flat shader eyeshadow brush, apply the L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eyeshadow in Bottomless Java all over your eyelid, packing (or patting) on the color from your lashline to right below your crease. Be careful to not go above your crease as we want the focus of this look to centered around your eyelid.
Step Four
Step 4
Using a blending eyeshadow brush, apply the dark brown matte eyeshadow from the same quad and work the color into the crease. Focus on blending out the harsh line from Bottomless Java eyeshadow. Then with a clean flat shader brush, apply the highlight shade from the same quad to your brow bone.
Step Five
Step 5
Apply a deep brown eyeliner to your upper and lower lash lines. Then using a pencil brush blend out the eyeliner with a little of the Bottomless Java eyeshadow. This will bring a subtle smoky drama to the look. You can also line your waterline with a dark black eyeliner to intensify the look, if you want.
Step Six
Step 6
With an eyelash curler, curl your eyelashes and apply two to three coats of your favorite mascara. I like to use Cover Girl Lash Perfection Mascara combined with Jordana’s Best Volume Extreme Volumizing Mascara. I apply one coat of the CG mascara to both my upper and lower lashes. Next using the Jordana mascara, I apply a second coat to my upper lashes only, focusing on the outer two-thirds of my lashes. Lastly I go back with the CG mascara and apply one final coat of mascara to both my upper and lower lashes. I know this seems a bit excessive, however, mascara will make any eye look pop, so I HIGHLY suggest taking the time to give your lashes a little (or a lot of) love.
Step Seven
Step 7
Wah-la! Stand back, admire your work and tell yourself how pretty and amazing YOU are!
I hope you enjoyed learning how to do this super easy, super glam eye look.

Favorite Drugstore Eyeshadows, Part 1- L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shadow

Do you ever find yourself roaming up and down the beauty aisles at your local drugstore wondering if the items that catch your eye are really worth picking up, putting in your basket and taking home with you? You have probably stood in front of the makeup display and asked yourself twenty questions before deciding to walk away empty handed. I know the feeling, except I never walk away empty handed. I ask myself twenty questions, put the product back, walk around the store until I’ve talked myself into the purchase, then head back to the display, grab multiples, pay and hope for the best. So, when I stumble across something on a whim that l end up loving, I feel like I have to share my find with everyone I know.

Enter L’Oreal Infalliable 24 Hour Eye Shadows- the drugstore’s little gems.

Pic 1

L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shadows

These eyeshadows have a very creamy, velvety texture. They are super pigmented, very long-wearing and glide on effortlessly. They don’t fade, smear or crease. The eyeshadows come in a plastic pot with a twist-off top. Inside is a plastic piece that keeps the shadow pressed in the plastic pot- DO NOT throw this piece away. You will find that your shadow won’t keep nearly as long. There is  wide range of color selections and finishes.

Here are my faves:

Pic 2

Shade 335- Golden Emerald, Shade 892- Amber Rush, Shade 890- Bronzed Taupe

Pic 3

Shade 800- Bottomless Java, Shade 556- Smoldering Plum

335 Golden Emerald- satin, metallic green with gold shimmer.
892 Amber Rush- metallic rose gold.
890 Bronzed Taupe- shimmery greyish taupe.
800 Bottomless Java- brown with bronze shimmer.
556 Smoldering Plum- shimmery deep plum.

These eyeshadows are not new to the drugstore, however, they are some of my favorite drugstore eyeshadows. I would HIGHLY recommend any of the shades I have listed above- they are all perfect for the fall and winter months. You can’t go wrong with any of them and you won’t be disappointed. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

My Holy Grail Hair Mask

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is one of my holy grail haircare products. I use this hair mask one to two times per week to improve the condition of my hair and it makes a HUGE difference after each use.

Macademis Natural Oil

Product Claims:

  • Rebuilds damaged hair for improved shine & elasticity
  • Deep nourishment & long-lasting conditioning

I would agree that this product improves my hair’s elasticity and shine, as well as deep conditions for long-lasting results. The mask is infused with macadamia oil, argan oil, tea tree oil, chamomile oil, aloe and algae extracts and smells amazing. You can purchase this product online (,, or in stores (Ulta and sometimes Target). It comes in several sizes, however, I recommend getting the 16.9 oz container (retails for $55)- it will last you at least six months, so the cost per ounce is a much better value. Plus, you can find 20% off coupon codes, which is an even better value. Since I have thick, medium length hair, I use about a silver dollar size amount, maybe a little more depending on how much ‘damage’ I feel I did to my hair the week before. I apply the mask all over my hair, then I take a wide tooth comb and comb through my hair. Once I have combed out all the tangles, I let the mask sit for five to 7 minutes and then rinse it out. You will be amazed at how great your hair feels afterward. I’m still amazed each and every time I use it. Definitely a must have, especially if you’re wanting to add life back to your dull, damaged hair.

Happy hair washing!

My Favorite Lipsticks for Fall

Since I love the fall season AND I love lipstick I decided to combine my two loves and share my favorite lipstick shades for fall. I’ve been wearing these shades for over a month now and I plan on wearing them throughout the W-I-N-T-E-R; I have yet to accept the fact that the ‘w’ word is right around the corner. Brrr…just thinking about winter sends chills down my spine. Is it cold in here or is it just me? Anywho…on to the lipstick, after-all it’s what we’re  all here for.

Left to Right: Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Vivienne, Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked, Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick Naked2 (purchased from

Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Vivienne: beige-nude; glossy. This nude lipstick is perfect for those wanting to wear a nude lip, but fear that they might look ‘washed out’. This lipstick has a brown, mocha undertone, as well as a minty scent.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked: nude-pink. This lipstick is a ‘your lips but better’ shade. It compliments all skin tones and pairs well with a sultry smokey eye. Work it girl.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked2: beige-nude. If you’re looking for an ultra nude lip, then this is the shade for you. In the fall I like to pair this lip color with a very neutral eye look and a deep, plum blush color. Gorgeous!!!

Plum 1

Left to Right: Mac Rebel, Mac Craving, Mac Cremsheen Glass in Private Party (purchased from

Mac Rebel: midtone creamy plum. This lipstick shade is one of Mac’s most popular shades. If you love plum shades, then you will fall will in L-O-V-E with this color. A messy top-knot bun, classic gold stud earrings, a fresh faced makeup look, a cozy scarf and Rebel on your lips will scream FALL. Love, love, love.

Mac Craving: classic plum. This shade is very interesting. Although it is described on Mac’s website as being a ‘plum’, it comes off more of an orangey-reddish plum. Although some may find the shade intimidating, it’s actually very pretty. I would recommend this as a wearable, everyday shade for someone looking for a little something extra.

Mac Creamsheen Glass in Private Party: plummy mauve. This color is part of Mac’s current Holiday Collection and is limited edition. It’s exactly how it’s described, a beautiful plummy mauve. This pairs nicely over Mac’s Rebel.

Plum 2

Left to Right: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Vivid Violet (purchased from, Wet N Wild Fergie Center Stage Collection Perfect Pout Lipcolor in Ferguson Crest Cabernet, Jordana Twist and Shine in Cranberry Crush (purchased at Walgreen’s)

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Vivid Violet- berry violet. This lipstick is similar to Mac’s Rebel, however, it wears more towards a purple wine shade on the lips. If you’re looking to make a statement this fall (and winter), go on with your bad self and grab this bold shade from Sephora or

Wet N Wild Fergie Center Stage Collection Perfect Pout Lipcolor in Ferguson Crest Cabernet: deep plummy wine. In my opinion this shade is quite similar to Mac’s Rebel for a fraction of the price. I would say it is slightly darker than Rebel and doesn’t go on as smooth, but such a great, affordable product. If you’re wanting to experiment with deep, vampy shades, but you aren’t wanting to spend a small fortune, pick up this lipcolor at your local drugstore. If you don’t like it, you’re only out $3-$4 max.

Jordana Twist and Shine in Cranberry Crush: classic berry. This product provides a sheer wash of berry color. Perfect for those days when you don’t feel like wearing makeup but you want that perfect pout.

Left to Right: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in FBomb (purchased from, Mac RiRi Woo, Mac Creamsheen Glass in Prepare for Pleasure (purchased from

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in FBomb: classic red. Hands down my FAVORITE lipstick shade of all time. If I could wear only one lipstick for the rest of my life, this would be it. Ah, it’s such a gorgeous red. When I wear it, I feel like a million bucks. Definitely worth having in your collection.

Mac RiRi Woo: cool-tone red. This is another gorgeous red, however, it is a matte lipstick, therefore it feels very drying on the lips. I only wear this lipstick when I know I’ll only be out for a couple of hours, otherwise it can get very uncomfortable on the lips. However, if you apply Mac’s Creamsheen Glass in Prepare for Pleasure on top of this lipstick, it doesn’t feel as drying. I can see this duo being my go to for holiday parties.

Mac Creamsheen Glass in Prepare for Pleasure: bluish red. This color is part of Mac’s current Holiday Collection and is limited edition. If you love a glossy red lip with blue undertones, you won’t want to miss out on this gloss. Perfect for the holiday season.

I hope you enjoyed the rundown on my favorite fall lipsticks. I think I just fell in love all over again with every shade mentioned.

What’s your favorite lipstick for fall?

Update & My October Favorites

Hello beauties.

It’s me- your long lost beauty blogger. I’m FINALLY back in action and happy to say that I will be blogging again regularly, yippee! With that being said, I apologize for my lack of blogging the past few months. Although it’s no excuse, life has been SUPER busy- being a mother and wife, plus working full-time makes for a chaotic schedule during the week. When I finally get a moment to myself, it’s time for a quick workout, a shower and then bedtime. However, after seventeen months (yes, it took this mommy that long to figure out how to manage it all), I think I have the juggling act down to an art- booyah! I’ll be posting on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays so stay tuned!!!

Now on to the fun stuff…

October Favorites

My October Favorites

During October I found myself reaching for these products and loving them all month long.

Loreal Paris Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Restoring Shampoo- I have color treated hair, so I only wash my hair two to three times a week to prolong the vibrancy of my hair color. This shampoo is gentle enough for color treated hair; it helps rebuild and strengthen and also restores shine. This shampoo also makes my hair feel so silky and smooth. It smells so clean and so fresh and has a nice lather. This is definitely a must have and my go to shampoo. Love, love, love.

Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Conditioner- After I shampoo, I apply this conditioner all over my hair, focusing mostly on my ends. I leave it on for three to five minutes, then rinse it out and my hair feels AMAZING. It feels so smooth, so hydrated, so revived. The smell reminds me of a cross between a luxurious body butter, a men’s deodorant and a hint of something sweet. This conditioner will be staple during the winter months.

Dove Refresh Care Volume Dry Shampoo- This dry shampoo is a must have. Since I only wash my hair two to three times per week, I rely on this dry shampoo to refresh and revive my hair. Although my hair doesn’t tend to get very oil, I still find it to be limp and lifeless, so on the days that I don’t wash my hair, I spray this product on my roots, massage it in and brush through my hair for an instant hair-pick-me-up. I will say that it does leave a little bit of a white cast so if you have darker hair, you’ll want to be very careful when using this product. I highly recommend taking the time to massage the product into your roots and brush your hair out.

Michael Todd True Organics Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Gel Cleanser- If you have oily, acne prone skin, this cleanser is a must have. The charcoal helps penetrate your pores to draw out impurities, dirt and oil. It also removes any makeup that your makeup remover or wipe left behind. This cleanser is gentle enough to use in the morning and the evening. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this product over and over again. #inlove

Josie Maran Argan Oil- Following my toner, I apply this lightweight Moroccan oil to the area around my nose. As it gets colder, the skin around my nose gets dryer and redder and I find this product really helps combat both the dryness and redness.

Loreal True Match Foundation- This is my holy grail foundation. Since I am a makeup junkie I tend to try different foundations all of the time, however, I always come back to this foundation. The formula is creamy and smooth and blends like a dream. I find that it has medium to full coverage depending on how you apply it and wears well throughout the day. I am currently wearing the shade W4 Natural Beige.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer- I have been loving this bronzer to contour and add warmth to my face. The formula is amazing and the color is a beautiful, matte, tan hue. This product would compliment a variety of skin tones AND it smells like chocolate. Who doesn’t love chocolate?

Benefit Rockateur Blush- This blush is ALWAYS in my makeup bag because it goes with every look. It is a gorgeous rose gold shade with a slight sheen. It can be difficult to blend, definitely not a color that you just slap on and run out the door. I find that if I pat the blush on with a brush, it blends easier than when I swipe it on. When applied correctly, it gives such a beautiful, flushed glow. Perfect addition to any makeup collection. Definitely a must have in my opinion. Oh, there is a slight perfumey scent, but nothing that would stop someone from purchasing this blush, unless of course you don’t go for that sort of thing- ha ha.

Mac Painterly Paint Pot- I apply this product all over my eyelids up to my brow bone then top it with whatever eyeshadow I am wearing for the day. The paint pot helps prevent creasing and prolongs the wear of my eyeshadow. This is the perfect eyeshadow base and belongs in everyone’s daily makeup routine.

Loreal Colour Riche Eye Shadow in #839 Cupa Joe- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. This eye shadow quad is one of my faves from the drugstore. It’s great for creating a simple, everyday eye look. Very neutral, very classic, very timeless. And what a cute name.

Cover Girl Lash Perfection Mascara in Very Black- I am ALWAYS on the hunt for the PERFECT mascara and as I’ve said before, I am a makeup junkie, so naturally I will try any mascara at least once. This mascara came highly recommended by someone I follow on YouTube, so I ran out and bought this mascara. This is the BEST mascara I have found for separating your lashes. I pair this mascara with other mascaras in my collection on the daily. I will apply one coat of this mascara, then a coat of another mascara and then I will add one final coat of this mascara and the results are amazing. If you’re loving your current mascara, but wishing it was better at separating your lashes, try adding a layer of this mascara to what you are currently using- you won’t be disappointed.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Ash- I love full brows. In fact, the fuller, the better. This brow pencil will give your current brows a face lift and finish any makeup look. The spoolie on the end is dynamite, great for blending out. Ah-mazing!!!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked- A gorgeous nude-pink to compliment any look. This ‘your lips but better’ shade is my daily go-to when I don’t feel like putting any effort into rummaging through my lipstick collection. This lipstick is very creamy and easy to apply. Not super long wearing, but because it applies so smooth, reapplying throughout the day is easy peasy.

Loreal Colour Riche leMatte in Matte for Me- This is a very unique matte shade and was a gorgeous lipstick shade to transition into fall with. I would describe it as a berry fuchsia with a slight red undertone. I love pairing this lip color with the Benefit Rockateur Blush and the Loreal Cupa Joe eye shadow quad for a beautiful, fresh fall look.

EOS Blueberry Acai Shea Butter Lip Balm- I have been using this lip balm evey night before bed and I’ve been loving how it has been making my lips feel. As the weather is getting cooler and the air is starting to lack moisture, this product really helps keep my lips from getting dry and chapped. The smell is berry fruity- ha ha. So delicious!!!

Better Homes and Gardens Candle in Candied Caramel Pecan- OMG…this candle screams eat me, ha ha. I have two candles and some of the wax cubes in this scent for my wax warmers and within minutes my house smells so amazingly sweet and delicious, like I’ve been baking all day. I’m the crazy woman standing in front of the display buying all of the candles and wax cubes in this scent. Hi, my name is Sarah and I have a problem. #nojudging

Well friends, that’s it. Those were my favorites for the month of October. I appreciate your patience and I hope you enjoyed my first blog back. Thursday I’ll be featuring my favorite fall lipsticks…stay tuned.

I Haven’t Gone M.I.A.

I just wanted to send a quick smoke signal to let you all know that I’m not M.I.A, nor have I given up on my blog or blogging in general. I have been feeling under the weather for over a week now and I FINALLY went to the doctor this morning. I have a severe sinus infection that’s kicking my you know what. I started my meds and hope to be back to normal in a few days. Please bear with me- I promise that once I’m feeling 100%, I’ll get back to blogging daily. Also, just an FYI- I’ll be on vacation March 27th through April 3rd. I hope to check in once or twice while Violet (my beautiful baby girl) and I are in sunny California.

Maybelline Baby Lips- Yes, please!

All of them

Maybelline Baby Lips

For the past few weeks my lips have been dry, dry, dry. I blame the cold, winter air; however, I’m sure that my lack of water consumption isn’t helping the cause either. Because of the dryness I haven’t been loving the way my lipstick has been wearing or making my lips feel, so I’ve been skipping a lip look all together and settling for plain ole Chapstick. How boring? I need color and I need it now. Enter my new obsession, Maybelline Baby Lips. Before purchasing this little beauty over the weekend, I read many mixed reviews about this product, so I was skeptical to take the $2.97 plunge. I know what you’re thinking- how can you spend $28 on a bronzer, but think twice about spending three bucks on a lip product? Priorities people. As I was perusing the cosmetic aisles at my local Super Wal-Mart (yes I’m aware that this has become my favorite pastime), the cute, colorful packaging of this product caught my eye. Since I was desperate for some color on my lips, a product that promised long-lasting moisture with sheer color was very enticing. I decided to pick up a tube of the Maybelline Baby Lips in Melon Mania and give it a try. I’m sure glad I did! My lips feel great-super moisturized and hydrated and the sheer watermelon-y pink color gives my lips the color-pick-me-up that I’ve been wanting. Also, the very subtle watermelon scent was a nice little surprise. I think I’ll be picking up a few more of these little gems in different shades. After all, a girl has to have options.

Spring Ahead Giveaway Winner & Love it or Lose It Thursday

Congratulations to Kim for winning my Spring Ahead Giveaway! Please email me at with your address so I can get your goodies mailed out. Also, a BIG thanks goes out to everyone who took the time to participate. Keep checking back- you never know when another giveaway will happen (wink wink).

Now on to this week’s Love It or Lose It…

Hoola Bronzing Powder by benefit

Let me start out by saying that I do not self tan or use tanning beds. With that being said, I appreciate products that give me a sun-kissed glow without exposing my skin to super harsh UV rays or leave me looking like an Oompa Loompa straight out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. I have tried several bronzing powders over the years and have been very disappointed- most are too orange or too shimmery or too orange AND too shimmery. Some make you look like you rolled in a pile of dirt and forgot to wash your face, while others don’t do much for your complexion and leave your skin looking muddy. All of this can be very frustrating, especially when all you want is that gorgeous bronze glow that says ‘Why yes, I did just get back from an amazing tropical vacation to my private island in the Bahamas.” I mean who wouldn’t want to look (and feel) like the sun kissed their skin without actually having to bake in the blistering heat or spend thousands of dollars on a vacation to somewhere sunny and warm? Basting in the sun isn’t my idea of fun, unless fruity adult beverages with pretty little paper umbrellas are involved, and of course the whole skin turning in to leather thing is taken out of the equation, then I might consider it. But, until then, baste no more my friends because I have found the perfect bronzing product for all complexions- Hoola Bronzing Powder by benefit.

This bronzing powder has a matte finish, so you don’t have to worry about too much sparkle or shine. Dust this powder over your cheeks, forehead and chin for a natural looking tan. This bronzer comes with a natural bristle cheek brush and is packaged in a cute little box. You can get this bronzer at Sephora or from benefit cosmetics for $28. Bring the sun to your gorgeous face all year round. This is a definite LOVE it!

What bronzing powders keep your skin sun-kissed all year round?
